Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United terminate contract

Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United have officially agreed to terminate the current contract between the player and the club, according to the team’s website. The move takes effect immediately, meaning Ronaldo has officially gotten away with it after months of speculation that he would force a move.

Ronaldo has criticized the team’s lack of success and direction. His inconsistent playing time under Erik ten Haag has been another pressure point and the lack of football in the Champions League is something that has finally pushed him down this path. Depending on the demands of his contract, there may not be many options for him in the January transfer window. Given the way he left Man United, some managers who might have been interested earlier might have second thoughts.

This meeting started out great for both parties, but ended on a dire note. We’ll see if Ronaldo ends up at a big club in the January transfer window. If he doesn’t, there have been rumors that he could make it to Major League Soccer.
