Cristiano Ronaldo transfer: Jorge Mendes offers Man Utd striker to La Liga giants, setting up sensational comeback

Cristiano Ronaldo could secure an impressive transfer back to Spain amid allegations that Jorge Mendes offered the Manchester United striker to a La Liga giant.

Ronaldo is seeking a transfer from Man Utd as soon as possible, setting a January departure. He conducted an interview with Piers Morgan recently, where he criticized senior club officials Erik ten Hag, club legends Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville, as well as Man Utd owners, the Glazer family.

Ronaldo says Ten Hag showed him no respect. That’s why he declined to come on as a substitute against Tottenham before leaving the stadium full-time. He thinks Ten Hag, along with some of Man Utd’s top names, are trying to force him out.

The Red Devils have yet to make a final decision on Ronaldo’s future. But, according to various sources, they are preparing to plunder the Portuguese.

Man Utd will terminate Ronaldo’s contract seven months early without paying his remaining £16m wages. They can do this because Man Utd’s lawyers believe that Ronaldo has breached the terms of his contract.

In the summer, when Ronaldo tried to leave Man Utd for the first time, he was rejected by several teams, including Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Chelsea were linked at the time and are back in contention for what would prove to be a monumental signing.

And now Spanish newspaper Sport claims Real Madrid can complete a memorable reunion with the 37-year-old. They claim that Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, offered Ronaldo back to the current Champions League winners.

Cristiano Ronaldo tipped for big return to Spain
Of course, Ronaldo spent nine years at the Bernabéu, scoring an incredible 450 goals in 438 appearances.

Normally, pundits and fans alike would immediately rule out the possibility of Ronaldo returning to Real. They would simply see it as a fanciful reunion.

However, Real manager Carlo Ancelotti may need a new striker this winter. That’s because talisman Karim Benzema contracted a thigh injury. That will leave him out of the World Cup for France.

Ancelotti is also worried about whether Benzema will be available for La Liga games once domestic football returns after the World Cup.

This makes a potential move for Ronaldo more likely than in the past.

Mendes is in early talks with Real bosses about the five-time Ballon d’Or winner returning to the Spanish capital.

However, even if Benzema is out for longer than just the World Cup, it’s hard to see the transfer really coming to an end.

Real have switched from Ronaldo and will want to bring in a younger striker rather than someone Ronaldo’s age.

Part of his project is still focused on the Frenchman Kylian Mbappé. They were snubbed by him earlier this year but are still hoping to complete his signing from PSG.

Bringing in Ronaldo from Man Utd would leave no room for Mbappé in Ancelotti’s squad. He would also occupy space in Real’s wage bill. Therefore, Real president Florentino Perez is likely to reject the chance to capture Ronaldo a second time.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag may be forced to admit defeat in his hunt for a Dutch international after making a huge admission about his future.
