Friendly Portugal: Osimhen, Ndah injured out of friendly like Awaziem, Dessers called up

Super Eagles Head Coach, Jose Peseiro has been forced to alter his list for this week’s friendly game against Portugal following the withdrawal of Victor Osimhen and Olisah Ndah, AOIFootball.com reports.

Having both been called up on the initial 23-man list, Osimhen who has had a terrific season so far in Italy will be replaced by another Serie A player Cyriel Dessers who only recently returned from an injury layoff.

The former KRC Genk striker has two goals so far this season in Italy and will battle the in-form duo of Terem Moffi and Paul Onuachu for the number 1 spot up front.

Similarly, in-form Chidozie Awaziem who was the surprise exclusion from the initial 23, has now been drafted following the withdrawal of South Africa-based Olisah Ndah who missed Pirate’s weekend loss to Sundowns through injury.

Awaziem’s call-up surely comes as a reward for his hard work this campaign in Croatia with Hajduk Split, with the former FC Porto defender scoring 4 goals, keeping 3 clean sheets, and also making the team of the week 5 times in 14 appearances.

Nigeria will square up against World Cup-bound Portugal at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon with kickoff set at 7:45 pm Nigeria time.
