Osimhen misses Serie A monthly goal award

Victor Osimhen’s only goal against Roma in Napoli’s away win against José Mourinho’s side failed to win the Serie A Goal of the Month in October 2022, with AC Milan’s Brahim Diaz winning the gong.

Diaz’s goal scored by the Milan striker in the October 8 match against Juventus was the most voted by fans on official social media of the Lega Serie A.

The perfect personal action with which he scored the second Rossoneri goal against Juventus allowed Diaz to surpass in the vote the splendid conclusion of a tight angle by Osimhen in the match won by Napoli against Roma.

It was a tremendous effort by Osimhen that finally paid dividends in the 80th minute after picking up a pass from Matteo Politano, getting the better of Smalling and producing a deflected shot that left Rui Patricio stranded. Diaz was also presented with the October crypto.com award.

Fit Napoli forward Osimhen was recently ranked the fourth best striker in Europe’s top division leagues, scoring seven goals in eight league games after being out for five weeks with a hamstring injury he suffered during Napoli’s 4-1 defeat of Liverpool in the Champions League in September.

The former Lille assassin recently scored his first hat-trick against Sassuolo last weekend, becoming the fifth African to score a hat-trick in Italian Serie A, after Liberia’s George Weah (for AC Milan in 1998), Patrick Mboma (Cagliari, in 1999), from Cameroon, from Egypt Mohamed Salah (AS Roma in 2016) and Keita Balde from Senegal (Lazio in 2017).
