Oyewusi Nominated for Europa Conference League Player of the Week

Nigerian striker Mathias Oyewusi was recognized for his outstanding display in FK Zalgiris Vilnius’ 2-2 draw with Swiss power FC Basel on matchday five of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The 23-year-old was named Europa Conference Player of the Week after his two goals helped FK Zalgiris Vilnius recover from two goals and draw 2-2 with Basel, keeping his dreams of advancing in the competition alive. .

Oyewusi took advantage of a goalkeeper error to cut the deficit three minutes before half-time and in the 62nd minute he was celebrating his second goal after putting the ball in the bottom corner following a fine pass from Francis Kyeremeh.

He directly participated in four goals (2 goals, 2 assists) in his last two matches in the Europa League Conference.

Oyewusi will face Luka Jovi (Fiorentina), Mustapha Yatabaré (Sivasspor) and Yari Verschaeren (Anderlecht) for the UEFA Europa Conference League Player of the Week award.
