Roma were beaten by an unstoppable team from Napoli, who claimed a major victory at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night, with the visitors adding 11 straight wins.

Victor Osimhen’s lone goal increased Luciano Spalletti’s team’s chances of fighting for the Serie A title this season. They are currently three points ahead of last season’s champions AC Milan.

Roma coach Jose Mourinho did not take the result well, using the media to deliver a series of blows to his opponents that night.

“In my opinion, we played a good game. I’m happy with the guys, I don’t like to lose, but I have a positive feeling,” said Mourinho.

“Congratulations to Napoli, they won without deserving. And congratulations to us, we lost without deserving”,

As is sometimes usual for the Portuguese, he was not very happy with the referee’s decisions.

“Cristante was afraid to dispute the ball because of the yellow card,” Mourinho continued.

“I try to make my players understand the referee before every game, I made a mistake, there were already several yellow cards in the first minute. There are things I didn’t like, but I told them calmly.

“I think Irrati is a great referee, a serious man and very fair. But he didn’t have a good game. That happens in life. Everyone has a day off every now and then.”

Mourinho criticizes Chucky Lozano
Mexico’s Hirving Lozano was named a starter, showing his good form for Napoli and giving Mexico hope for the upcoming Qatar 2022 World Cup.

However, the former PSV and Pachuca player had to put up with Mourinho’s provocations on the Sunday after the Roma-Napoli match.

“What’s the name of the guy who always falls?” asked Mourinho in what could only be interpreted as an insult directed at Lozano.

“We put Leonardo Spinazzola with that player who always falls. He throws himself on the ground all the time. Lozano, that was his name.”

Aside from Mourinho’s jokes, Lozano was unable to continue his goal streak, having scored three goals in the previous three games.
