Sacked Iheanacho, Awoniyi, Ahmed Musa, Osimhen, Onuachu in Super Eagles vs. Portugal

Super Eagles manager José Peseiro has left out Premier League strikers Kelechi Iheanacho and Taiwo Awoniyi while calling up top-flight Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu for Thursday’s friendly against Portugal, which heads to the World Cup in Lisbon.

Skipper Ahmed Musa, who returned from an injury break with his Turkish club, was also left out.

Both Osimhen and Onuachu are the top scorers in Serie A and the Belgian league respectively.

The Super Eagles have also invited Bruno Onyemaechi, who is based in Portugal, and Bright-Osayi Samuel, from Turkish giant Fenerbache.

Thursday’s match at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon will kick off at 6:45 p.m. Portuguese time (7:45 p.m. in Nigeria)
