Serie A: Napoli boss Spalletti talks to Osimhen after historic goal against Atalanta

Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti has once again applauded Victor Osimhen after the Nigerian inspired the team’s 2-1 victory against Atalanta on Saturday night.

The Partenopei extended their lead at the top of the table after a hard-fought victory at the Gewiss Stadium.

Osimhen conceded a penalty early in the game which was converted by his compatriot Ademola Lookman.

The 23-year-old leveled the scores for the Partenopeos before setting up Elf Elmas for the winner.

Osimhen now has six goals in his last four appearances for the Napoli club and eight in nine league games this season.

The striker is also now the Nigerian with the most goals in the Italian top flight with 32 goals.

“Osimhen is a player who has these surges and starts, but from time to time he also needs to figure out how to get through it and work with his teammates,” Spalletti told DAZN.

“He was a bit tired, but still he created chances, he caused problems, and when Atalanta pushed their full-backs up with open strikers, he was alone in midfield and in those situations he can do more than he did tonight.”
